Kareen Sandra El Beyrouty, wife of Joel Santos, and daughter of Mounir and Maria El Beyrouty of Redington Shores, has earned a master's degree in public administration in international development from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She is a 2002 graduate of St. Petersburg High's International Baccalaureate program. She received a bachelor's degree in economic theory from New York University and worked for two years as an economic consultant in New York, N.Y. She is fluent in French and Spanish and spent three years learning Mandarin Chinese. She plans to work as a development economist, helping less developed countries achieve higher and more equal economic growth.
