Kiteboarding Santas at Fort De Soto think they set a new world record on Friday. It wouldn't have been hard: The previous record was one kiteboarding Santa. Twenty-five Santas showed up, though only 12 got onto the water. (We know it couldn't have been the cold ... maybe they're saving themselves for an upcoming big event?)
The kiteboarders were from all over the United States. "The wind picked up a bit," said Ken Brackin of Tampa. "It's a great day to be on the water."
The Santas, who in a modern twist communicate through Facebook, plan to do it again next year, maybe tying the event to a charity.
