Man arrested on DUI charge after fatally hitting Pasco pedestrian early Sunday

A 27-year-old Georgia man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence after fatally hitting a pedestrian in Pasco County early Sunday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 2:30 a.m. along County Road 54 by Hyde Park Boulevard. Erick Enrique Zheng-Sam, 27, was driving north along the county road while a 31-year-old man from Land O’ Lakes was walking on the road, also north, according to the highway patrol report.

Zheng-Sam hit the pedestrian, who died at the scene of the crash, the report said.

Troopers arrested Zheng-Sam on a charge of driving under the influence and booked him in the Pasco County Jail.

No other information, including the name of the pedestrian or further information about Zheng-Sam’s arrest, was immediately available.
