Friends of St. Pete Beach Library hold annual auction

Friends of St. Pete Beach Library is holding its annual Holiday Basket Silent auction until Dec. 15. Visitors of the library can preview the 13 baskets and place a bid on them, or purchase a "buy now" basket. Funds raised from the silent auction will go toward the St. Pete Beach Library.

Theme announced for 2018 Gecko Ball

"Gecko Con!" will be the theme for the 10th Annual Gecko Ball after votes were tallied. "Gecko Con" will be a celebration of superheroes, villains, cult characters, imaginary locations and more from comics, books, movies, tv shows, animé and other media in pop culture genres akin to the world of popular Comic Con conventions around the world. Gecko Ball will be held on Aug. 25, 2018 at the Gulfport Casino Ballroom. The Gecko Ball is one of four Gecko-themed events in late summer each year, beginning with the Art Gecko Show and Gecko Crawl, and ending with GeckoFest.
