Another road test site for Class E license
Starting Wednesday, road tests for Class E (noncommercial) driver's licenses will be available at the Hernando County Tax Collector's Office at 7489 Forest Oaks Blvd. The driving tests will be conducted between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesdays, by appointment only. The Florida Division of Driver Licenses office will provide an examiner to manage the testing. Road tests will also continue to be offered at the Division of Driver Licenses office at 11319 Ponce de Leon Blvd., on the north side of Brooksville. Boots and Pearls Ball is June 20
Youth and Family Alternatives will sponsor the fourth annual Boots and Pearls Ball at 6 p.m. June 20 at the Palace Grand, 275 Della Court. The event will include entertainment by Wiley Fox, an old-fashioned barbecue by Bear's Monster Grill and a silent auction. Tickets are $60. Table sponsorships are available, starting at $1,000. Business card ads start at $100. Proceeds benefit Youth and Family Alternatives' New Beginnings Youth Shelter in Brooksville, which helps runaway and at-risk children. Bricks being sold for 9/11 memorial
The Fire Department New York Retirees of Spring Hill are selling brick pavers for the 9/11 memorial that will be on the grounds at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10209, 14736 Edward R. Noll Drive. The memorial is being developed by the FDNY retirees as well as the New York Police Department 10-13 Retirees, Spring Hill Fire Rescue and International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2794. The cost is $50 for an engraved brick paver. Each paver includes four lines, with 16 characters per line. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the 9-11-2001 Memorial Fund and mailed to P.O. Box 343, Brooksville, FL 34601. Call Joe Holland at (352) 686-4401.

You can run, walk to benefit the Arc
The Arc Nature Coast will sponsor the third annual Spring Lake 5K Run and 2-Mile Fun Walk beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday on the Arc grounds at 5283 Neff Lake Road, east of Brooksville. Registration begins at 7 a.m. The cost is $25 for the 5K and $20 for the Fun Walk.
