A self-described unemployed boxer used her kicking skills on some Pasco sheriff's deputies Thursday morning, kicking one in the leg and another in the chest, according to the Pasco Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said Minnie Kay Lutes, 35, drove her Mercury Cougar with two front flat tires about 7:30 a.m. Thursday, tailgating, swerving in and out of traffic and nearly hitting several cars.
Deputies found her vehicle on Moon Lake Road. While deputies were arresting her for driving under the influence, the sheriff's report said, Lutes cussed and flailed, hitting the deputies and battering the cruiser.
She was pepper sprayed to no effect, the report said. Lutes was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Tests showed alcohol, cocaine and marijuana in her system, the report said.
Lutes, 5 foot 1 and just over 100 pounds, listed her occupation as "unemployed boxer." Her mother, Karen Lutes, said her daughter never boxed professionally. "She can protect herself," her mother said.
Lutes, who lives at 10834 Leon St. in New Port Richey, faces multiple charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest, as well as DUI and criminal mischief. She is being held without bail in the county jail.
