Pasco School Board member Cathi Martin on Tuesday morning asked for forgiveness for having missed Friday's Ridgewood High School graduation, where she was scheduled to greet graduates. "I had pneumonia last week," a wheezy sounding Martin told the board during its regularly scheduled meeting. "I had gone to the doctor, and he said absolutely bed rest. I waited until the very last minute hoping I could go. I called (the doctor). He said I can't go." She said she has done well in making district meetings and events since pledging to complete her term, and that she planned to continue to serve. "I truly am sorry," Martin said. "Just try to bear with me. It's not something I've done on purpose. That's for sure."

DUI charge comes weeks after crash
A 40-year-old man involved in an April 12 car accident was arrested Monday on charges of DUI with property damage. According to the Zephyrhills Police Department, Brandon C. Revels had a blood-alcohol level of 0.281, about 31/2 times the level at which Florida law presumes impairment. The accident happened at Green Slope Drive and Pretty Pond Road about 6:45 p.m. April 12. The report does not say more about the crash or why Revels was arrested weeks after it happened. Revels, of 7935 Wayfarer Dr. in Zephyrhills, is being held at the Land O'Lakes jail in lieu of $500 bail.
