A 7-month-old child died in a single-car crash on Interstate 4 near Plant City on Friday night, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

About 10:30 p.m., a 2001 Dodge Ram driven by Michelin Jones, 42, of Tampa was westbound on I-4, east of County Line Road, when the right rear tire's tread separated, the Highway Patrol said. Jones lost control of the truck.

The truck spun into the median and flipped three times before landing upright, witnesses told the Highway Patrol.

When the truck flipped, the baby, Indria Jones, was thrown from the truck. A 6-year-old passenger, Drelin Pittman, and Indria were taken to Tampa General Hospital, where Indria died, the Highway Patrol said.

Michelin Jones didn't have any injuries, and Drelin suffered minor injuries.

The Highway Patrol attributes the crash to the separation of the tire tread. Alcohol was not involved, and all passengers, including the baby, were wearing seat belts, it reported.
