to display skills
Amateur radio operators with the Spring Hill Amateur Radio Club and Hernando County Amateur Radio Association will participate in a display of their emergency communications capabilities from 2 p.m. June 27 to 2 p.m. June 28 in the recreation building at Linda Pedersen Park on Shoal Line Boulevard. The event is part of the annual National Field Day for Amateur Radio, with FCC licensed amateur radio operators, also known as hams, in contact with other amateur radio stations across the United States, using their short wave radio equipment and antennas. A staged reading of Hot Coffee and Live Bait, a new, original production by Mary Sheldon, will be at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. June 28 at Stage West Community Theater, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd. The story takes place at Rose Lake in the Adirondack Mountains in New York, when a quiet weekend turns awry. Groups present a day of games, activities
Hernando/Sumter Head Start, networking with Shiloh Problem Solvers and Hernando County Parks and Recreation, will present the 1-Man Rally2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Kennedy Park, 899 Kennedy Blvd. Activities include a man-to-man tug-of-war, woman-to-woman events, 3-point shootout, flag football, 3-on-3 basketball and the three-legged race.
