BROOKSVILLE

150 CUSTOMERS WILL SEE PAUSE IN WATER SERVICE

The county Utilities Department will make water line improvements at the Cedar Lane Water Plant between 11 tonight and 5 a.m. Tuesday. The work will require an interruption in water service for about 150 customers in the area. While the water is turned off, customers should turn off water heaters to prevent element damage. Sprinkler systems should be turned off as well. A precautionary boil water notice has been distributed to affected customers. For information, call (352) 754-4037.

RIDGE MANOR

Budget workshop on Wednesday

Hernando County Administrator David Hamilton will have the next in a series of budget workshops at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ridge Manor Community Center, 34240 Cortez Blvd. The 2010 and 2011 Hernando County government biennial budget will be discussed. Residents are encouraged to give their thoughts about priorities for county government services and ways spending can be reduced. SPRING HILL

Scuba lessons available at YMCA

Scuba lessons will be offered from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting July 7, at the Hernando County Family YMCA, 1300 Mariner Blvd. The lessons are for youths 12 and older and adults who are in good physical health and are comfortable in and under water. There are six class and pool sessions in the Y's heated, enclosed pool. The cost is $180 for YMCA facility and program members and $200 for nonmembers, payable to the YMCA. SPRING LAKE

Community Club

to host barbecue

The Spring Lake Community Club will host its annual barbecue from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Spring Lake Community Center, 4184 Spring Lake Highway, east of Brooksville. Barbecue pork and chicken will be served. Those attending are encouraged to bring a covered dish. The Brooksville Dance Academy, under the direction of former Radio City Music Hall Rockette Diane Chiucchi, will perform at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $5; children younger than 12 eat free. Learn the basics

of horticulture

A free horticulture class, Basics of Landscape Design, will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the East Hernando Branch Library, 6457 Windmere Road. This class will cover the basics of landscape design and installation. The speaker is Florida Yards and Neighborhoods coordinator John Korycki. Seating is limited. Call (352) 754-4433.
