BROOKSVILLE

Ideas sought for budget priorities

Hernando County Administrator David Hamilton will host his final budget workshop and community meeting at 6:30 p.m. today in the commission chambers at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 N Main St.

The 2010 and 2011 Hernando government biennial budget will be discussed. Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts about priorities for county government services.

Tonight's meeting will be televised live on Hernando County Government Broadcasting, Bright House Ch. 622, and can also be viewed online at www.hernandocounty.us (click on "Live Webstreaming"). Residents may call in or e-mail questions to be answered during the program. To submit questions, call (352) 540-6777 or send e-mail hcgb@hernandocounty.us .

Church accepts Angel Food orders

Mount Pleasant Mission Baptist Church is now participating in Angel Food Ministries, a nonprofit, nondenominational organization that provides grocery relief to anyone interested in participating. Food orders will be taken at the church, at 27064 Church Road, from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday , Tuesday and July 10. Cash payments only. The cost is $30 per unit, which retails for about $60. Various specialty boxes are also available. Distribution will be from 9 to 11 a.m. July 25 in the fellowship hall. For information, call (352) 796-4346.

COUNTYWIDE

Hospice provides free speakers

HPH Hospice (formerly Hernando-Pasco Hospice) and its home-care affiliate, HPH Homecare, offer ongoing education to Hernando County residents about the agencies' programs, services and volunteer opportunities. The nonprofit agencies have speakers available who will customize their presentations to meet the audience's needs. There is no fee to have a speaker, and no funds are solicited during speeches. Education material is provided at no cost. Hospice, which provides care, comfort and support to people affected by a life-limiting illness, has served Hernando County residents since 1984. Registration open for soccer camp

First Hernando Youth Soccer and Challenger Sports have teamed up to host a week-long British soccer camp from July 20 to 24 at the Anderson Snow Soccer Complex on Anderson Snow Road.
