Mah-jongg tourney to benefit cancer fight
Tampa residents Debra Kent Faulk and Maggie Osborn are holding a mah-jongg tournament from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 12 at the Quorum Hotel Tampa, 700 N West Shore Blvd., to benefit breast cancer research and community outreach programs. Hillsborough County is holding a public hearing and workshop about the county's upcoming budget. Citizens interested in learning more about voicing their opinions can go to the County Center on July 16 at 1:30 p.m. for a workshop on the issue. A local restaurant offers a summer program for children during its off hours. Wings Gone Wild, on 3114 W Bay to Bay Blvd., has the program every Wednesday, 10 a.m.-12:15 p.m., from now until school begins. The restaurant shows a movie, rated PG or G, feeds the children lunch and provides other forms of entertainment. It costs $10 per child, per day.
