The Hernando County Engineer's Office will conduct a public meeting regarding the dredge of the Hernando Beach channel at 6 p.m. July 15 at the Coast Guard Auxiliary, 4340 Calienta St. County staffers, the project contractor and the consultant will discuss the project, which is expected to begin later this month. The purpose of the meeting is to explain the project scope and answer questions from the public. Blood donors will be eligible for prize
Blood drives with the LifeSouth Community Blood Center's bloodmobile will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Dairy Queen, 901 Broad St., and from 2 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Freedom Fest at Florida Classic Park, 5360 Lockhart Road. All donors will receive a T-shirt and complimentary cholesterol screening, and will be entered into a drawing to win a $500 travel voucher. Today is the deadline for sponsors and bowlers registering for the Hernando County Sheriff's Office's ninth annual Bowling Extravaganza, which will be July 18 at Spring Hill Lanes, 3447 Commercial Way. Registration begins at noon; bowling starts at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $150 for a lane sponsorship and a team of four bowlers, $100 for a lane sponsorship only, $75 for a team only and $20 for individual bowlers.
