Editor's note: The following is a recap of the week's news events , in the words of the newsmakers.

"I don't want him to be forgotten.''

Dean Coleman of Hernando Beach, on fears that his son, Army Spc. Justin Coleman, won't be remembered for his service. Justin Coleman was killed in Afghanistan on July 24.

"I think it takes a lot of nerve for the state of Florida ... to tell us we have to tax our people because you are failing your responsibility.''

School Board member Sandra Nicholson, voting against raising the property tax rate an extra quarter mill to fund school services.

"There's a big difference between not getting a pay raise and being laid off.''

Chief Deputy Michael Hensley, on an agreement with the union representing Hernando County deputies in which the deputies will forego pay raises this year to prevent layoffs.

"There was so much fear, but my child was my first thought.''

Stephanie Mullis, who grabbed her 16-month-old son Uriah and ran when a rabid red fox attacked her and her husband at the Hidden Valley Campground in Brooksville.

"I'm going to do this until one of two things happens: I die trying or the rapture comes.''

Jo'el King, on his plans to continue bicycling around the country giving out free Bibles. King has spent two weeks in Brooksville.
