The 22nd year of Breakfast Club Ministry begins Wednesday morning with a performance by Christian comedian, singer/songwriter and Bill Gaither Homecoming artist Aaron Wilburn at the Salvation Army Worship Center, 1625 N Belcher Road, Clearwater.

Doors open at 8:45 and the program is 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Ticket donation is $8 and includes a continental breakfast plus full concert.

The National Society of Arts & Letters sponsors an annual competition focusing on a different area each year.

This year the competition will be in the category of literature, specifically short-story writing.

The national first prize award of $10,000 will be awarded at the national convention May 20-23, 2010 at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort, Clearwater.

Candidates must submit two original short stories totaling 7,500 words, one in the first person and the other in a third person venue, to the local chapter, Clearwater-Tampa Bay Chapter, by Feb. 12.

First-, second-, and third-place winners will be awarded monetary prizes at the Clearwater-Tampa Bay Chapter's annual award luncheon April 10 at the Belleair Country Club.

The first-place recipient will automatically be entered in the national competition and must attend the national convention May 20-23 to compete on the national level.

Candidates must show proof of U.S. citizenship, be between the ages of 18 and 33, not be nor previously have been under professional management, and be available to attend the local award luncheon and the national awards convention.
