LEALMAN

Community group to hear from state, county officials

The Lealman Community Association (LCA) meets today. The agenda includes guest speakers county Commissioner Ken Welch and state Rep. Janet Long. Residents are reminded to bring your recyclable plastic and old electronics for Bill Sanders, who is collecting the items for Keep Pinellas Beautiful. New LCA members are always welcome to join and get involved. Residents and business and property owners in the Lealman area are welcome.

PINELLAS PARK

USF coach Leavitt to be at Kiwanis Club meeting

University of South Florida football coach Jim Leavitt is scheduled to speak at Thursday's meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Pinellas Park. Leavitt grew up in St. Petersburg and graduated from Dixie Hollins High School.

The Pinellas Park club sponsors or participates in local events and projects such as MDA, March of Dimes, the Marty Lyons Foundation, Special Olympics, Horses for the Handicapped and PARC.

Monthly Art Society meeting set for Monday

The Pinellas Park Art Society meets the second Monday of the month. Art lovers are welcome to attend.

KENNETH CITY

Homeowners group fixing up the courts

The Kenneth City Homeowners Association is working on a project to clean and repair the four shuffleboard courts adjacent to the Kenneth City Community Hall. Organizers say the courts should be ready this week. The courts have gone unused for several years, according to Dick Laneau, the association's vice president. The door on the court clubhouse will be repaired and keys will be sold to members of the association for $2 each. Residents may order a key by contacting Laneau at 345-4323 or via e-mail, lureswanted @tampabay.rr.com. The final meeting of the Kenneth City Homeowners Association before the summer break is set for Tuesday. The evening will include free bingo for members

July Fourth festivities looking for participants

Kenneth City and the Lealman Fire District are making plans for their annual Fourth of July celebration. Participants are being sought for the parade and festival which is a tradition for the Lealman and Kenneth City areas.

The parade will be followed by the community festival with free food, games, and prizes. Last year's event drew over 1,200 people. Groups, organization and businesses interested in participating should contact Lt. Jim Millican, 526-5650, ext. 549, or stop by the Kenneth City city hall, 6000 54th Ave. N, to pick up a registration form.
