Plenty to do on National Night Out in Hernando

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office, neighborhood crime watch groups, businesses and residents will participate in the 25th annual National Night Out on Tuesday.

The purpose of the annual event is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, as well as to strengthen community spirit and assisting to build stronger partnerships between law enforcement and the community.

The following crime watch groups have planned activities scheduled:

• Timber Pines Crime Watch, 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Timber Pines Performing Arts Center

• Ridge Manor Area Crime Watch, 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ridge Manor Community Center

• Brookridge Crime Watch, 4 to 7 p.m., with a golf cart parade led by the sheriff's DARE car, with a cookout to follow at 14989 Rialto Ave., Brookridge.

• Tangerine Estates Crime Watch will have a convoy through the neighborhood from 7 to 8 p.m.

• Regency Oaks Crime Watch, 5 to 8 p.m., at the community center.

• Pristine Place Crime Watch, ice cream social, 7 to 9 p.m., at the club house.

• Primrose Lane Crime Watch, refreshments, 7 to 9 p.m., at 4298 Rachel Blvd.

• High Point Mobile Patrol, barbecue, 6 to 8 p.m., at the club house.

• Oakridge Estates, 6 to 8 p.m., corner of Stephanie and Tammy courts.

• River Country, hot dogs and refreshments, 5 to 7 p.m., at the park.

• Potterfield Acres/Winter Park, ice cream social, 6 to 8 p.m., 8037 Cresap St., Brooksville.

• Hill 'n Dale, hot dogs, 6 to 9 p.m., at the park.

• Wellington, coffee and tea, 6 to 9 p.m., at the clubhouse

• Forest Oaks, refreshments, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Forest Villas Clubhouse.

• Springwood Estates, dessert and music, 6:30 to 8 p.m., 14972 Copeland Way.

• SHARP, hot dogs, meatballs and refreshments, 4 to 9 p.m., at 1461 Parker Ave., Spring Hill.

• Weeki Wachee Crime Watch, open house, 6 to 8:30 p.m., Weeki Wachee Area Club.

• Deerfield Estates Crime Watch, barbecue pork, music and dancing, 5 to 8 p.m., at the clubhouse.
