Neighborhood meeting changing time, location
The Bartlett Park Neighborhood Association will meet at a different time and location this month. After a brief business meeting, a program will be presented to teach members and volunteers about Progress Energy's Neighborhood Energy Saver program. The "Train the Trainer" program will help members assist neighbors by providing information and education about lowering power use and electric bills.

The Meadowlawn Neighborhood Association resumes its monthly meetings this month. The next meeting agenda includes a round table discussion with the neighborhood's community police officer. The group is collecting school supplies for students attending Lynch Elementary, the neighborhood school. Residents are encouraged to donate an item. Needs include spiral notebooks, crayons, washable markers, colored pencils, wide-rule notebook paper, glue sticks and pocket folders.

Volunteer to improve quality of Williams Park
The Downtown Neighborhood Association invites anyone interested in improving the quality of St. Petersburg's central Williams Park to take part in the first Volunteer Day of Friends of Williams Park, an all-volunteer organization founded by DNA dedicated to revitalizing the park. The work session will begin with trash pickup, weeding and monument cleaning to prepare the park for fall events.

Check out the new voting system
If you're curious about the new optical scan voting system, the Pinellas County supervisor of elections has scheduled demonstrations countywide in anticipation of the Nov. 4 general election. In addition to test-driving the new voting procedure, residents may also register to vote, update personal information including address, name, party or signature, and request mail-in ballots at demonstration sites. Oct. 6 is the deadline to register for the Nov. 4 election. Residents may also register to vote at public libraries or driver's license offices, or at any county office handling social services or disabilities.
