Feast on some live blues this weekend

Gulfport's first 49th Street South Fall Blues Festival will take place Saturday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. along the Tangerine Greenway at 18th Avenue S between 49th and 54th streets. There will be live music including the Rude Boys, Stacey Knights and Sterling Magee and the Harlem Blues Band. There will also be food vendors, arts and crafts and a flea market.

Yard sale, carwash to benefit the needy

A community yard sale and carwash will be held Saturday at the parking lot of the Norwood Community Church, 1818 29th Ave. N, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Shop for clothing, household items, books, electronics and hardware and enjoy Asian and American food while you shop. Proceeds will go toward the food pantry for the needy. Call 581-1752.

Help the elderly sort out insurance

The Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas is seeking volunteers for the SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) Program. SHINE volunteers assist elders and their caregivers with health insurance issues such as Medicare, Medicaid, private health insurance, long-term care options, benefit and claim issues and prescription drug assistance programs. Volunteers must be able to use a computer and the Internet and attend professional training and update meetings. For information, call 570-9696, ext. 234.
