NEW PORT RICHEY

Apartments to replace condos get city's okay

The City Council paved the way Tuesday evening for construction of a 388-unit apartment complex on Sea Forest Drive by approving a rezoning and preliminary site plan.

The gated complex, to be called Broadstone Gulf Harbors, will be built on 30 acres once slated for 500 high-rise condos. The condo plan fell apart amid the souring real estate market. Monthly rents will range from $800 to $1,270. Amenities include a pool, clubhouse and trail. The developer is Phoenix-based Alliance Residential, a national apartment builder that is moving into the Florida market.
