Former pitcher charged with domestic battery

Former Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Christopher Spurling, 31, was arrested Thursday night after being accused of throwing his ex-wife to the ground during a dispute, reports the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Spurling, from Dayton, Ohio, was drafted by the New York Yankees in 1997. Since then, he has been with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves, Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee major and minor league organizations. The Brewers released him during spring training last year. The Sheriff's Office said Spurling — listed as 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 245 pounds — and his ex-wife argued at a home in Wesley Chapel and that Spurling "threw her down to the floor." The Sheriff's Office said this was witnessed by their 7-year-old daughter and her friend. Spurling denied the accusation, according to his arrest report. He is charged with domestic battery and is being held without bail at the Land O'Lakes jail.

Cigarette dispute lands brother in jail

Frederick Crevoiserat asked his brother to put out his cigarette. The brother refused, so Crevoiserat sprayed him with a fire extinguisher, authorities said. "He wouldn't put out the cigarette," Crevoiserat told deputies, according to his arrest report, "so I put it out for him." When deputies arrived at the apartment on Grand Boulevard in New Port Richey on Thursday night, they heard the victim screaming and saw his arm still covered in white foam from the extinguisher. Crevoiserat, 39, was arrested on charges of domestic battery and resisting an officer without violence, because he struggled when being handcuffed, said the report. He is being held without bail at the Land O'Lakes jail.
