Bloodmobile schedule: Nov. 21-27

The LifeSouth Community Blood Center mobile unit will be at the following locations this week.

Today — Bus 1, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Hope Community Bible Church, 13241 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill (donors receive a Chick-fil-A coupon); 1:30-4 p.m., Walmart, 13300 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill. Bus 2, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Grace World Outreach Church, 20366 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville (donors receive a Chick-fil-A coupon).

Monday — No public blood drives.

Tuesday — No public blood drives.

Wednesday — Bus 1, 1-5 p.m., Brooksville Health Care Center, 1114 Chatman Blvd., Brookville. Bus 2, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Walmart, 1485 Commercial Way, Spring Hill.

Thursday — No blood drives; the center is closed.

Friday — Bus 1, 12:30-6 p.m., Walmart, 7305 Broad St., Brooksville. Bus 2, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Walmart, 13300 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill.

Saturday — Bus 1, 1-6 p.m., American Legion Post 186, 12091 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill. Bus 2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Goodwill Industries, 4750 Commercial Way, Spring Hill.

The blood center, at 12395 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Donors must be 16 or older (16-year-olds must have written parental consent). All donors must present photo identification. For information, call (352) 596-2002.

    CLEARWATER — Now that the city director tasked with revitalizing downtown has resigned after his arrest on a battery charge during Oktoberfest, City Manager Bill Horne said the goal is to not leave the position vacant long.

    Clearwater Assistant City Manager  Micah Maxwell will oversee downtown until the city hires a replacement for Seth Taylor.

    TAMPA — Tampa-based Checkers Drive-In Restaurants continues to fly under the radar compared to dominant burger chains like McDonald's and Burger King.

    Checkers Franchisee Shaji Joseph, of Tampa, hoses down the front walkway of his store at 6401 Park Boulevard, Pinellas Park. The business has a new look including signage and exterior tile. One drive through has been eliminated for an outdoor dining area, right. Joseph owns nine Checkers and is planning to open his tenth in Tampa.

    At last year's Dia de los Muertos, Casa Tina owner Tina Marie Avila (crouching) shows her "Ofrenda," or Day of the Dead alter. What would have been the 25th annual Dia de los Muertos Fiesta on Saturday had to be canceled this year because of Hurricane Irma. The folk festival will be back next year.
