Boil order lifted for Brookridge community in Hernando County

RECOMMENDED READING

BROOKSVILLE — Hernando County rescinded its boil water order for the Brookridge community Tuesday afternoon after receiving word that a retest of one of the community's water wells showed no signs of E. coli bacteria.

A test last week had shown the presence of the contaminant, so the county ordered that water for consumption and dish washing be boiled.

Distribution lines were never shown to have been contaminated, so utilities officials determined that the water disinfection systems worked.

No illnesses were reported.
