Senior softball: The Brandon Senior Softball Association hosts noncompetitive games at 9 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at William Owen Pass softball complex, 1300 Sydney Dover Road. Food festival: The GFWC Brandon Junior Woman's Club will host its third annual International Food Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at its historic clubhouse, 129 N Moon Ave. Sample foods from England, India, the Caribbean, Spain and Hawaii. Library programs: Bruton Memorial Library, 302 W McLendon St., will host a master gardening program titled "Under- utilized Plants" from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. Master gardener Fern Kinion will be the guest speaker. The program is sponsored by the Master Division of the Hillsborough County Extension Service. Hospital classes: South Florida Baptist Hospital, 301 N Alexander St., will offer a seminar, "The Aging Spine," from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the community conference room. Rotary Club cookout: The Plant City Daybreak Rotary Club will host its third annual Country Cracker Fest at 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at the home of George and Cassandra Banning, 2506 Clubhouse Drive. Enjoy country Cracker food including North Carolina hog, onion rings, gator bites, ribs, bass bites, jambalaya, swamp cabbage, wild rice, sweet corn, fruit and salads. There will be live entertainment and a silent auction. Tickets are $75. Proceeds will benefit the various charities of the Daybreak Rotary Club. Nature lovers needed: Tampa Bay Watch is recruiting volunteers to create an oyster shell bar on the shoreline of Schultz Nature Preserve Thursday and Friday. Tampa Bay Watch and an anticipated 80 volunteers will shovel about 20 tons of fossilized oyster shells into mesh bags, and then transport each bag by outboard motorboat and place it on the shoreline of the island. The shoreline and the surrounding preserve are home to bird species colonies such as the brown pelican, great blue heron and white ibis. Artist at Firehouse Cultural Center: Photographer Carl Weese will be the artist in residence Oct. 14-21 at the Firehouse Cultural Center, 101 First Ave. NE. Field of Honor Ceremony: The quarterly Field of Honor Ceremony sponsored by the Veterans Council of Hillsborough County begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park, 3602 U.S. 301. The ceremony will honor all soldiers of the last three months who have died in the war in Afghanistan. Their names will be read and an American flag will be placed in their memory.
