Breakfast helps dads, children learn to bond

The first All Pro Dad's Day breakfast will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Golden Corral, 940 S Broad St. All Pro Dad is a nonprofit program that focuses on building relationship between children and their fathers. Men and their children are welcome to attend. This is a monthly breakfast that allows fathers and their children to discuss a wide range of family topics, spend time together and have fun. They are equipped with resources to strengthen their relationship. For information, call Luis Leon, the parent/male involvement coordinator for Head Start, at (352) 754-2464, ext. 225. Fire commission meets Monday

The Spring Hill Fire Commission has rescheduled this week's business meeting to 6 p.m. Monday at 3445 Bob Hartung Court. The meeting will include a public inquiry workshop for discussion of the proposed Station 5 project. For information, call (352) 754-5800.

Walkers needed for Alzheimer's event

Participants are needed for the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk '09, which will be Sept. 12 at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, 6131 Commercial Way. Pre-walk activities will start at 8 a.m., with the walk starting at 9 a.m. Almost 200 people from Hernando, Citrus and Sumter counties are expected to participate in the event to raise awareness and funds to fight the disease. Waste station's hours changing

Hernando County Solid Waste and Recycling Division is changing operation hours at its transfer stations. Effective next week, the East Hernando Transfer Station, 33070 Cortez Blvd., Ridge Manor, and West Hernando Transfer Station, 2525 Osowaw Blvd., Spring Hill, will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Hours will remain the same at the Northwest Solid Waste Facility at 14450 Landfill Road, Spring Hill, which is open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays. For information, call (352) 754-4112.
