Briefs: $9-million lottery ticket sold at Zephyrhills store
Store operator awaits mystery Lottery winner
Kenny Patel has no way of knowing who holds the $9-million lottery ticket his store sold for the Wednesday jackpot. But he has preferences. "I hope it's one of our local customers," said Patel, who has operated Time Saver Food & General Store for about 14 years. The store, on State Road 54 just west of U.S. 301, does a brisk lottery ticket business, he said. "It was only a matter of time" before his store sold a big winner. He has sold several Fantasy Five winners over the years, but never one good for a big jackpot. As of Friday, no one had come forward to claim the prize. But regardless of who wins, the store will receive about $20,000 for selling the winning ticket.
Motorcycle rider dies from injuries
A 60-year-old Port Richey man died from injuries in a motorcycle accident last week in Manatee County, the Bradenton Herald reported. Joseph Favichia was heading south on Interstate 275 near the entrance to Interstate 75 when a gust of wind forced him off the road and flipped his bike. The Herald said Favichia was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where he died Tuesday.
