Shriners toy run for kids being organized
The 20th annual Toy Run for Shriners Hospital for Children will be Dec. 12. Bikes will leave from the parking lot at the southeast corner of the State Road 50 bypass and Broad Street at 11:29 a.m.
Those wishing to join the ride to Shriners Hospital in Tampa should bring a new toy for a child. All bikes and clubs are welcome. For details, call Hop at (352) 597-2369 or Fred at (352) 684-7251.

Board raises money for Christmas wreaths
The Brooksville Beautification Board is conducting its annual fundraiser to replace old Christmas decorations that have fallen into disrepair.
This year's goal is to replace old utility pole decorations with new energy-efficient lighted wreaths.

Tickets available for annual Bingo Bash
Tickets are available for the 17th annual Bingo Bash sponsored by the Brookridge Woman's Club. The event will be March 13 at the Brookridge clubhouse, 8150 Hampton St. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., with games starting at 10 a.m.
Tickets are $35, which includes all games, doughnut and coffee upon arrival and dessert at lunchtime; participants should bring their own sack lunches. (A refrigerator will be available.) Full payment is due by March 1.

Spots available on sheriff's citizen panel
Openings are available in the afternoon and evening sessions of the next Hernando County Sheriff's Office Citizens Academy, which starts Feb. 4.
Classes are from 1 to 4 p.m. or from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays through March 11.
The six-week program will give participants an insider's view of the Sheriff's Office and the criminal justice system, including forensics, uniform patrol, traffic units, administration, investigations, vice and narcotics, communications/911, K-9, aviation and marine units, mounted patrol and legal issues and perspectives.
Graduates will have an opportunity to ride along with a deputy and observe in the communications center.
