Tree auction: The Carrollwood Cultural Center has a silent auction where visitors can bid on holiday trees with varied themes, from comic book heroes and wine lovers to sports and military enthusiasts. The trees were conceived, donated and decorated by Denise Deneen, Shirley Overton and Cheley Buff, who spent more than 90 hours to decorate and install the display. More than 25 trees are on display in the lobby of the center, 4537 Lowell Road. Bid sheets are placed near each tree and the public can visit and place bids during business hours — 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday — or while attending any of the concerts and events held at the center. Bidding closes at 3 p.m. Dec. 16 and winning bidders must be willing to pick up their trees between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. that day. Funds raised by the auction will directly benefit the community theater group at Carrollwood Cultural Center. For more information, call (813) 269-1310.
