BROOKSVILLE — Hernando County has hired Julie Rosenberger to be the managing veterinarian for Hernando County Animal Services.
Rosenberger, 37, has been director and staff veterinarian for the last five years with Citrus County Animal Services. She was the first veterinarian at the Citrus shelter. She replaces Lisa Centonze, who recently left the Hernando job for a similar position in Hillsborough County.
Centonze spent a year reorganizing the department and fulfilling numerous suggestions for improvements from several auditors after she became the first veterinarian on staff in Hernando.
Rosenberger notes in the cover letter of her Hernando application that she feels their experiences have been similar and that she could easily transition into the Hernando job and build on what Centonze has done. She received her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the University of Florida and her bachelor's in biology from the University of South Florida.
Rosenberger will start work in Hernando on May 12.
