Clearwater Beach desk clerk faces sexual battery charge

CLEARWATER — A desk clerk at Shephard's Beach Resort on Clearwater Beach was jailed early Monday on a charge of sexual battery of a physically helpless person.

Jason Rapp, 36, of Clearwater remained in the Pinellas County jail Monday evening under $100,000 bail.

According to Clearwater public safety spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts, a 21-year-old woman who was extremely intoxicated was brought to the front desk of the hotel by security after she was found on the property. While she was waiting for a taxi to arrive, Watts said, Rapp fondled her. A witness contacted police.
