Benefit set for man who needs transplant

A benefit for Keith Sarif, currently on the waiting list for a kidney transplant, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. June 26 at VFW Post 2473, 1401 N Hercules Ave. Throughout the day, the post will host auctions, raffles, entertainment and dinner. All proceeds will go to the family. VFW Post 2473 is a charitable organization and donations are tax deductible. Make checks payable to VFW Post 2473 with the name "Keith Sarif" on the memo line. Blue Jays to host Bike Night event

Motorcycle enthusiasts can roll over to Bike Night at the Florida Auto Exchange Stadium on July 2. The Dunedin Blue Jays will be hosting the Daytona Cubs for a 6 p.m. game, but gates will open for Bike Night festivities at 3:30 p.m. The event will feature live music by Bitter Sweet and a bike show with cash prizes of up to $1,000. Green initiative on debris pickup

Starting July 4, Dunedin will start picking up furniture, appliances, large tree trimmings and other yard/bulk debris items once a week instead of the current schedule of twice a week. The change does not apply to automated "green" barrels or recycling containers and affects residential customers only. 'Wearable Art 7' seeking emcee

Aspiring emcees are invited to enter the Dunedin Fine Art Center's search contest for its "wearable Art 7" fashion show. Contestants should submit a one- to three-minute video by July 10 showing why they should be this year's emcee. The public will vote on the videos on DFAC's website between July 11 and 21. Finalists will go before a panel of judges who will choose a winner to conduct the Aug. 13 show. Thrift shop needs more donations

The Sophia's Attic Thrift Shop, located in the Palm Harbor Community Activity Center, 1500 16th St., is in need of clean, gently-used merchandise, including clothing, household items, ceramics, glassware, books and jewelry. Sales will provide scholarships for people with financial need so they can participate in recreation programs. Merchandise can be dropped off Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Receipts for tax purposes are available. Call (727) 771-6000.
