CLEARWATER — Crews from the Clearwater Public Utilities Department have begun smoke testing of sewer lines to locate leaks where stormwater or groundwater could enter the system. White smoke is circulated through the lines and exits from vent pipes on home roofs. The smoke is non-toxic and creates no fire hazard. The area being tested is bounded by Palmetto Street on the south, Highland Avenue on the west, Keene Road on the east and Flagler Drive on the north. The testing will continue through March. 1. For questions, call (727) 562-4960.
