Southern gospel concert benefits Love Your Neighbor

A Southern gospel concert featuring the Peytons will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Brookridge clubhouse, 8150 Hampton St. The event is a benefit for Love Your Neighbor, a local ministry that provides food and clothing for the needy. Admission is two cans of food or other nonperishable items to help stock the Love Your Neighbor food pantry. There will be raffles and a silent auction. Spring Hill

Work to start on stretch of Mariner

Hernando County Engineering Department has announced that roadwork along Mariner Boulevard will begin Jan. 4. The road, from Maderia Street to Augustine Road, will be milled and repaved, along with side roads, to the end of the curbing. The work will be done at night and should last about four weeks. To the greatest extent possible, traffic will be maintained on side streets and driveways; motorists are asked for cooperation and patience during the work. Bayport/Aripeka

Still room for more bird counters

The Hernando Audubon Society will conduct the annual Aripeka-Bayport Christmas Bird Count on Monday. Participants are to meet at 6 a.m. at Denny's, 1445 Wendy Court, Spring Hill. Those wising to participate should call Bev at (352) 686-0460 to be assigned to a team.
