County approves new Tierra Verde fire, EMS provider

Pinellas County commissioners unanimously approved a contract Tuesday for the Lealman Fire District to take over fire and emergency medical service on Tierra Verde.

Lealman submitted the lowest bid of $1.08 million last month, undercutting St. Pete Beach and St. Petersburg, which had long held the Tierra Verde contract.

The St. Petersburg contract ends Sept. 30.

Tierra Verde will provide all equipment and vehicles and will pay for the firefighters who will be employed by the Lealman Fire District.
