Girl Scout Scrapbooking Camp starts July 26 in Brooksville

Scrapbooking camp for girls is July 26-30

The Girl Scouts of West Central Florida, Brooksville/Ridge Manor Service Unit, will host a Girl Scout Scrapbooking Camp from 6 to 8 p.m. July 26-30 at Brooksville United Methodist Church, 109 S Broad St., in the Youth Ministry Building. Girls in kindergarten through 12th grade are welcome. Participants are asked to bring their own photos and albums to create their pages. The cost is $15 per Girl Scout; nonmembers pay $20, which includes membership for the 2009-10 year. Event capacity is limited. Register now to help hospice

HPH Hospice will host a two-part volunteer orientation for adults and teens 14 and older from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the office at 698 S Broad St. Volunteer opportunities include answering phones, filing, working on office projects and visiting patients in their homes. This team serves the eastern portion of Hernando County. Hospice is a nonprofit organization that cares for individuals affected by a life-limiting illness. Advance registration is required. Arc Bowl-A-Thon needs sponsors

The Arc Nature Coast needs sponsors and bowlers for the 17th annual Bowl-A-Thon from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 11 at Spring Hill Lanes, 3447 Commercial Way. Team sponsorships are $150, and provide Bowl-A-Thon T-shirts for a team of five bowlers, individual and team awards, and food and beverages after bowling. Lane sponsorships are $125, and include a large banner on the lane promoting the company/sponsor and recognition in the Arc's quarterly newsletter. All sponsor names are included on the back of the Bowl-A-Thon T-shirts. Bowlers are asked to collect at least $25 in pledges. Weekly gatherings can help with grief

HPH Hospice offers a grief support group for adults at two locations in Hernando County: from 3 to 4 p.m. Mondays at the office at 698 S Broad St., Brooksville; and from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays at the office at 12260 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill. Led by hospice counselors, these ongoing bereavement support groups are for adults grieving the death of a loved one. There is no cost to participate and no reservation is needed.
