Halloween events today and some on Sunday

Here is a rundown of Halloween events happening today — and in some cases Sunday — in Hernando County:

• Hernando Heritage Museum's annual Haunted House, 7 to 11 p.m., 601 Museum Court, off Saxon Avenue, Brooksville. The cost to enter the three-story haunted house is $5 per person (not recommended for children younger than 8). Outdoors, there will be a bonfire with a marshmallow roast and storytelling for the children. There will also be a fortune teller. Hot dogs, snacks, drinks and baked goods will be available. All money raised will go toward repairs and upkeep of the museum, which is the oldest restored house in Brooksville.

• Haunted Trail on Golddust, 7:30 to 10 p.m., 5277 Golddust Road, Brooksville (from Barclay, turn west on Highgrove, then left onto Golddust). This is guided tour on a wooded trail; wear appropriate footwear. The cost is $5 per person, with funds raised going to the Humane Society of the Nature Coast and another charitable organization. • Haunted House, starting at 6:30 p.m., 2151 Meredith Drive, off Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill. Free.

• Haunted House, starting at 6 p.m., 2322 Meadow Lark Road (behind Freedom Field), Spring Hill. Free. Call (352) 686-0152.

• Haunted Hayride, 7 p.m. to midnight today and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Whitman Road, off U.S. 41, Brooksville (follow signs). Sponsored by the Hernando High Royale Regiment Marching Band Boosters. The cost is $4 per person. A hot dog with chips and soda is available for $3.

• Christ Lutheran Church Trunk or Treat Celebration, 6 to 8 p.m., 475 North Ave. W, Brooksville. Includes games, tricks for treats, bounce house and hayrides, as well as hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones and cotton candy. Call (352) 796-8331.

• Christian Life Assembly of God Harvest Fest, 6 to 8:30 p.m., 13065 Jacqueline Road, Spring Hill. Includes games, inflatable activities, a maze, dunk tank, hayrides, food, clowns, candy and prizes. There will be a drawing for door prizes for those who register. Call (352) 597-1139.

• Christian Church in the Wildwood's Trails of Treats, 6 to 8 p.m., 10051 Country Road, north of Weeki Wachee. Includes candy, inflatables, popcorn and cotton candy.

• Lighthouse Baptist Church Fall Festival, 1 to 6 p.m., Sunshine Grove Road, west of Brooksville. Includes food, games, hayrides, candy and prizes. This is a free event, but donations are appreciated.

• Eden Baptist Church Fall Festival, 4 to 7 p.m., 22308 Lake Lindsey Road, north of Brooksville. Featuring free games, food, candy, hayrides and more. Donations of nonperishable foods accepted for Love Your Neighbor's food pantry. Biblical and nonscary costumes welcome.

• Trunk-a-Treat, 5 to 8 p.m., Kennedy Park, 875 Kennedy Blvd., Brooksville. Sponsored by Shiloh Problem Solvers and All Pro Dad of South Brooksville. There will be candy, food and music.

• Christian Church at Spring Hill's Trunk or Treat, starting at 6 p.m., 9074 Bay Drive, Spring Hill. Includes free food and drinks.

• Garden Grove Baptist Church Trunk or Treat, starting at 6 p.m., 1813 Stromberg St., south of Brooksville. Call (352) 597-1167.

• Hernando County Foster Parent Association's Halloween Party and Fall Dinner Dance, 6 to 10 p.m., VFW Post 10209, 14736 Edward R. Noll Drive. There will be entertainment, prizes and raffle baskets. Children will receive candy. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 4 to 12. Call Linda, (352) 754-0377.

• Filipino-American Social Club's Halloween Fright Night Costume Party/Dinner-Dance, 6 to 11 p.m., Hernando County Senior Citizens Club, 7925 Rhanbuoy Road. This is a family potluck event; children are welcome. Guests are asked to bring a dish. Admission is $12 for adults; children 12 and younger admitted free. Music provided by DJ Willie Matos of Professional Exclusive New York DJ Entertainment. There will be a costume contest for adults and children, with prizes. • Latin-American Civic and Cultural Association Halloween Masquerade Dance, 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., SNPJ Hall/Suncoast Dance Party Center, 13383 County Line Road, Spring Hill. Music provided by the Son De Mi Tierra band and a professional DJ. Prizes awarded for best costume. Food will be available for purchase. Guests can bring their own snacks and beverages (no large coolers permitted). Advance tickets are $15 for nonmembers. • Marine Corps League Detachment 708 Halloween Costume Party, 7 to 10 p.m., 8405 Sunshine Grove Road, west of Brooksville. The cost is $5 at the door. Bring a covered dish or snack. Prizes awarded for the best individual, couple and group costumes. The lounge will be open for beverages. Call (352) 597-7979.

• Brooksville Elks Lodge Masquerade/Halloween Party, 7 to 11 p.m., 14494 Cortez Blvd., west of Brooksville. Entertainment provided by Marty and the Nice Guys. Finger foods will be available. Prizes awarded. Tickets are $6. Call Angie Balderson, (352) 585-2730, or Rose Ludnick, (352) 684-9154.
