This season, help decorate downtown

The Dunedin Parks & Recreation Department and the Downtown Dunedin Merchants Association are inviting businesses, nonprofits and local organizations to be part of "Operation: Twinkle," a lamppost decorating contest. Official lamppost adopters will be responsible for decorating a pole of their choice downtown. Each pole will be judged by "celebrity judges" from the arts organizations, and winners will be chosen in several categories. The best overall will receive a trophy. Applications are available at Gregory's Salon, 351 Main St.; the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, 301 Main St.; and the Dunedin Community Center, 1920 Pinehurst Road. Call Alicia Castricone at (727) 298-3265 or e-mail anunez@dunedinfl.net.

Students from these schools who didn't win earlier contests may register at the Recreation Center the day of the shoot. Students from other parts of Pinellas County will be able to participate by contacting the Elks Lodge closest to their schools. Proof of age is required. There will be an awards luncheon at the lodge immediately after the contest. Call Chuck Rulison at (727) 709-0184.
