Learn to do-si-do at weekly lessons
The Cloverleaf Leprechauns Square Dance Club is offering square dance lessons at noon Sundays at the Heather House at Clover Leaf Farms, 900 N Broad St.

Christmas comes early to Main Street
The city of Brooksville and Hernando County government will co-host the 2014 Christmas on Main Street program from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 11. in downtown Brooksville between Jefferson and Broad Streets.
Visit and have a photo taken with Santa from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. at the House of Passage, directly across from the courthouse. Patricia's Boutique will feature its "Patricia's Windows Comes to Life" display with live models. Brookstone Wines will offer a free wine tasting with samples of its seasonal Green Apple Harvest. How the Grinch Stole Christmas! will be shown at Main Street Eatery, with popcorn.
Rising Sun Bistro & Market will host a Christmas cookie decorating event, and artwork by Spring Hill artists will be on display at Easy Street Home Decor. A meet-and-greet with a photo opportunity with Rudolph will be available at Little Lady Cafe.
The lighting of the Christmas tree will be at 7 p.m., followed by an hour of holiday entertainment. Bring lawn chairs.

Hospice fundraiser honors loved ones
The Tree of Life, HPH Hospice's annual community fundraiser that provides a way to remember and honor someone living or deceased, begins Nov. 28.
There are two trees in Hernando County, with donations supporting HPH's patient and family care programs. Locations include: HPH Hospice team office, 12260 Cortez Blvd., and Sturgill Hospice Care Center, 12242 Cortez Blvd., both in Spring Hill.
To place an order for an ornament and indicate a name for the tag, call the HPH Foundation toll-free 1-800-486-8784, visit hph-hospice.org or visit one of the tree locations.
Eight different ornaments are available, based on a contribution ranging from $5 to more than $1,000. To ensure that an ornament is hung on the tree of the donor's choice, orders must be received no later than Dec. 16.
Affordable Care Act sessions offered
The Nature Coast Community Health Center is offering two information sessions on the Affordable Care Act, at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 2 and at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 6, at the Spring Hill Branch/Harold G. Zopp Memorial Library, 9220 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill.
Information will include eligibility guidelines, what information is needed to apply for assistance, Individual Shared Responsibility Mandate tax penalties, and exemptions from the tax penalties.

Computer club's 2015 calendar available
The Hernando Computer Club has produced a 2015 calendar with photos of Hernando County sights, as well as some recipes.
The calendars are $10 each and are available at the club, located in Building B at Grace Presbyterian Church, 8375 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill. For information or to reserve a calendar, call (352) 684-7171.
Public input sought on Restore Act
Hernando County is accepting applications for economic development and environmental projects to be considered for Restore Act funds. The deadline to submit a project is 5 p.m. Dec. 5.
Specific criteria must be met for a project to qualify. Visit hernandocounty.us/restoreact/ to submit your project idea and learn more about the Restore Act.
The act created a specified funding allocation for 23 Florida gulf coast counties, including Hernando, which are eligible to apply for and receive funds from the Gulf Coast Restoration Trust Fund. The federal government and Transocean have agreed to a settlement that will provide an estimated $686,000 to Hernando County after an approved multi-year implementation plan is in place.
Bowl to help local mom with cancer
A bowl-a-thon will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 13 at Spring Hill Lanes, 3447 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, to help the Clark family — Kelly and David Clark and their two children, Connor and Nancy — of Spring Hill.
Kelly Clark, 36, is once again battling breast cancer. In 2011, she had a double mastectomy, but the cancer is back and has spread to the lymph nodes in her chest and neck, with metastasis on the bones in her pelvis, hips, femurs, lower back, shoulders and upper arms.
Bowl-a-thon participants will receive three games of bowling and shoe rental for a $25 donation. The event includes a 50/50 raffle, a bake sale, photos with Santa and a chip walk. Learn about care of landscape trees
The Hernando County Utilities Department's Water Awareness series will offer a free workshop for residents starting at 10 a.m. Dec. 5 at the department's administration building, 21030 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville.
During the workshop, which will be presented by urban horticulture agent Bill Lester, participants will learn about proper site selection and how to plant and care for landscape trees. Each participant will receive a free seedling.
