County waives adoption fee for cats, kittens

In an effort to find more homes for felines, Hernando County Animal Services is waiving its adoption fee for all cats and kittens through the end of business on Monday. People adopting felines need to pay a $20 deposit, which will be refunded upon showing proof of sterilization and a rabies vaccination. Cats receive a feline 4-in-1 vaccination and deworming at Animal Services. PetLuv offers a free spay/neuter service and a one-year rabies vaccination for all animals adopted to private homes. Hernando County residents also receive a free one-year license for their cat upon proof of a rabies vaccination. The shelter, at 19450 Oliver St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday only. Regular hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays and from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
