Hernando County Family YMCA seeks volunteers


Ymca needs volunteers in several areas

The Hernando County Family YMCA is seeking volunteers. Those interested may volunteer in areas including administration, aquatics, the Kids Zone, maintenance, group exercise or sports. Anyone interested is invited to stop by the Y, 1300 Mariner Blvd., on the following days during the week: 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday and Thursday. VFW invites you to 'Day at the Races'

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10209, 14736 Edward R. Noll Drive, Spring Hill, will host "A Day at the Races" from 1 to 5 p.m. today. Along with horse race games, there will be door prizes, raffles and a 50-50 drawing. Food and drinks will be available. Admission is $5. Apply to become a Citizen Volunteer

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office Citizen Volunteer Corps is accepting applications for its public service aide program. Volunteers serve on patrol, handle minor calls for service from residents and assist patrol deputies in nonemergency cases. Volunteers receive training. The next PSA Academy begins June 12. The application deadline is April 30. Applications are available at the Sheriff's Office, 18900 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, or 7499 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill.
