BROOKSVILLE — Telephone service to various government offices — including Hernando County, the state attorney, the public defender, the Health Department and the city of Brooksville — was largely back to normal on Friday, officials reported.
Technical difficulties with the phone systems and voice mail systems had crippled communications between the public and the offices starting on Tuesday and continuing into Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the technology staff worked into the night to restore connections. Work continued through Friday to reinstall system changes made since September that had been lost. But the switchboard was able to send calls from the public to their proper destinations, according to county spokeswoman Brenda Frazier.
