Mobile One Stop back in business
CareerSource Pasco Hernando has announced the return of its Mobile One Stop bus, a self-contained resource room for job-seekers.
The 38-foot bus has been retrofitted with 13 computer stations. It has satellite Internet and telecommunications, printing, copying and scanning capabilities. The mobile recruiting station provides job-seeking employment opportunities to people who lack transportation. Mobile One Stop also can provide employers with a ready-made computer network classroom, and includes a smart board and a PA system. Employers can use Mobile One Stop to anchor employee onsite recruitment efforts for interviewing, job fairs, testing and training purposes.

Sheriff's Office looking for Auxiliary Police Academy candidates
Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis is looking for candidates who are interested in attending the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Auxiliary Police Academy.
The volunteer program is a modified law enforcement academy, certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, consisting of approximately 319 hours of hands-on training. The course material covers topics such as introduction to law enforcement, criminal law, first aid, and interview and interrogation.
The course also covers high-liability areas, such as defensive tactics, firearms training and defensive driving. The program is geared toward professionals who have an interest in law enforcement and who want to give back to the community. All classes are scheduled at night and on weekends; they take approximately six months to complete. There is no cost to the participant.

Raffle benefits Hernando Historic Preservation Society
BROOKSVILLE — Raffle tickets are being sold for a complete collection of Old Brooksville in Photos and Stories (200 books) by Robert Martinez, donated by the Frasier Mountain family and valued at $1,200. The books cover a period of 18 years, beginning in 1997.
Raffle tickets are $1 and are available at Osmond Printing, 710 S Main St., Brooksville, or from Martinez at (352) 799-1945.
Proceeds benefit the Hernando Historic Preservation Society. The raffle coincides with the 200th anniversary issue of the publication. The drawing will be Feb. 21 at the Hernando Heritage Museum, 601 Museum Court, Brooksville.

SPRING HILL — The Hernando County Public Library System is seeking local authors to participate in the second annual Local Author Showcase from 1 to 5 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Lake House, 1202 Kenlake Ave., Spring Hill.
Participating authors will have the opportunity to talk about the publishing experience, read from their books and have copies available for purchase. Participation is by application only, and, to be selected, authors must be published either in print or e-book format. Teen Anime Club to meet Saturday
SPRING HILL — Teens ages 12 to 18 are invited to attend the next Teen Anime Club meeting, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Spring Hill Branch/Harold G. Zopp Memorial Library, 9220 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill.
The club meets monthly to watch anime, discuss anime/manga trends, share artwork and do different crafts. Snacks and drinks are provided. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hernando County.
