History of Brooksville, arts and crafts show, and more

HISTORY OF BROOKSVILLE: A "Brooksville: Then and Now" presentation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Nov. 9 at Lykes Memorial Library, 238 Howell Ave., Brooksville.

Bob Martinez, a Brooksville native and publisher of Old Brooksville in Photos and Stories, will present the history of downtown Brooksville through photos past and present.

There is no cost and no registration required.

ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOW: The Ridge Manor Property Owners Association's annual Arts and Crafts Show will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ridge Manor Community Center, 34240 Cortez Blvd., Ridge Manor.

Along with numerous vendors, there will be 18 baskets to be given away. Shoppers will be given a door prize token with every purchase. Winners will be drawn every half-hour; winners need not be present to win. Food will be available throughout the day.

WRITE YOUR LIFE STORY: The Hernando County Library System will host a Personal History Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 9 at the East Hernando Branch Library, 6475 Windmere Road, Ridge Manor West.

Participants will have an opportunity to share their memories, try some writing exercises and receive tips on how to write their personal histories.

GAME DAY AT LIBRARY: A Family Game Day will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 10 at the East Hernando Branch Library, 6457 Windmere Road, Ridge Manor West.

The free event will include electronic gaming systems, such as Wii and Xbox 360, as well as board games like Scrabble, Pictureka, Life and Candyland. There will also be a corn toss.

Fresh popcorn and lemonade will be served at no cost. For information, call (352) 754-4043.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL: The Tri-County Community Association will host an ice cream social from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the community center, 28444 Forbes St., Nobleton.

The event will include music by Ray Dickinson and Friends. Ice cream flavors include chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, and a variety of toppings will be available.

Prior to the social, there will be an association meeting at 6 p.m.
