Interim city manager reaches agreement with Brooksville council

BROOKSVILLE — The Brooksville City Council this week unanimously approved a contract with Lyndon L. Bonner to be the interim city manager.

Council members and Bonner spent more than an hour working through details of the contract Monday night. He will begin work immediately, with the contract set to end on Nov. 15.

Most recently the county manager in Henry County, Ga., and formerly the city manager in North Miami Beach, Bonner will receive a weekly salary of $1,800. Up front, he will receive two weeks of leave time and will continue to accrue leave during the length of the contract. He will not receive a cost-of-living increase he requested and will get four weeks of severance pay rather than the eight he asked for if he leaves early. He also will not have to live in the city limits.

The council expects to begin looking for a permanent manager in the near future and did not preclude considering Bonner for that position if he applies.
