Kirklands to open near SuperTarget on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard

Home decor store coming to Target center

Kirklands, a specialty retailer of home decor and gifts, is opening a store in the SuperTarget shopping center on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard. The store will be in a strip center formerly occupied by the Bombay Co., which closed during the housing bust. Kirkland's sells a "broad selection of distinctive merchandise, including framed art, mirrors, wall decor, candles and related items, lamps, decorative accessories, accent furniture, textiles, garden-related accessories, and artificial floral products," its website said. The Nashville-based chain has 300 stores in 30 states, including locations in Brandon, Brooksville, Clearwater and Lakeland.

Sister Stroll, 5K run set for Sunday

The Florida Hospital Zephyrhills Foundation will hold its sixth-annual Sister Stroll on Sunday and a new 5K run. The run will be on a marked, picturesque course on streets surrounding the hospital. Participants are invited to walk or run for a sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter, friend, survivor, someone currently facing breast cancer or in honor of someone who lost the battle. Awards will be given for top finishers. The run registration begins at 5:30 a.m. with a 7:30 a.m. start and a 9 a.m. awards ceremony. Walk registration begins at noon with the walk beginning at 1 p.m. and a prize drawing at 2 p.m. The registration fee for the 5K Run is $25. There is no fee for the Sister Stroll. Donations are welcome, and all proceeds will support the Breast Health Center at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. Program will teach sign language

The Deaf Family Literacy Academy of Pasco and Hernando Counties is enrolling local families for a free educational program to teach young deaf and hard of hearing children up to age 12 and their parents how to communicate using American Sign Language. Services are free for families. Trained mentors provide the weekly session in the family's home. Hess Express sells $78,000 ticket

A lottery ticket worth $78,000 was purchased at the Hess Express at 5426 Little Road. The winning numbers in Wednesday's Fantasy 5 drawing — 01-09-23-26-36 — appeared on a Quick Pick ticket, according to the Florida Lottery. Two other winning tickets were purchased at the K-Citi Food Mart in Dunedin and a Winn-Dixie in Naples.
