Honoring Those who served


For the third year, the city of Largo will present Military Appreciation Day, an event to honor retired and active military personnel and their families from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Largo Central Park, 101 Central Park Drive.

It's free for military families. The event includes live performances, games, Largo Central Railroad train rides and educational material.

Seniors, Thursday's festival is all about ideas to help you stay active

Staying active in mind, body and spirit is the theme of this year's Senior Fun Fest and Volunteer Action Corps Luncheon Thursday.

The program, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include walking and running information, meditation and relaxation techniques and a magic show.

Guest speakers will discuss topics such as day trips on a budget and senior sports opportunities.

The Fun Fest is part of Largo's Annual Active Aging Week.

Scott Thompson of the Library Foundation to address Woman's Club

The Largo Woman's Club will hold its regular business meeting luncheon Oct. 6 in the Loft at Royal Palms, 200 Lake Ave.

The guest speaker will be Scott Thompson of the Greater Largo Library Foundation.

The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. The cost of the luncheon is $7. For information, call Mary Black at (727) 585-2852.

Doctor will provide a dose of information on nutritional medicine

A diagnostic clinic physician will discuss "Nutritional Medicine: Myth or Magic?" at a free seminar from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Cypress Palms, 400 Lake Ave., Largo.
