Ceremony Wednesday to honor veterans

The city of Largo will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony to honor all past and present U.S. soldiers and military personnel at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The event will be held at the Military Court of Honor in Largo Central Park, 101 Central Park Drive. The event features patriotic music, a color guard presentation, and keynote speaker John Piazza, founder and president of the Armed Forces Military Museum. All ages are welcome. The event is free. Holiday Lights event needs craft vendors

The Florida Botanical Gardens, 12520 Ulmerton Road, is looking for craft vendors to display their wares during Holiday Lights in the Gardens, which will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 28 through Jan. 3. For information, call (727) 582-2247.

Largo High singers' dinner, show Dec. 12

Tickets are on sale now for the Largo High School Madrigal Singers Annual Dinner, which will be Dec. 12 at St. Dunstan's Church, 10888 126th Ave. N, Largo. Tickets, available at the church office, are $25 for the dinner and show. For information, call (727) 581-1435.

Mentoring group offers workshop

Adults Mentoring Children invites the public to an informal workshop for current and aspiring mentors from 2 to 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at Panera Bread, Bardmoor Shopping Center, 10801 Starkey Road, Largo. Recycling contest voting has started

The voting for the city of Largo Recycled Innovations Contest is under way.

The contest, which includes innovators of all ages who have made a usable item with the contents of their trash can, has entries ranging from kitty litter box hanging gardens to baby food container space savers. The innovators went beyond traditional recycling and repurposed their trash into items that may be reused in daily activities.

Prizes will be awarded in various age categories such as Junior Innovators, Tween Innovators and MacGyvers. To cast your vote or for more information, visit www.LargoRecycles.com. Voters do not need to be Largo residents. The winners will be announced via e-mail on America Recycles Day on Nov. 15.
