Hearing-impaired students at Ben Hill Middle School in Tampa adopted a 12-year-old miniature pinscher named Parris. Parris is a service dog trained to aid those who are hearing impaired. Parris has heartworms, and her family was unable to keep her because of a hardship. Hillsborough County School District officials and Hillsborough County Animal Services are partnering to treat Parris. County Commissioner Ken Hagan and Animal Services director Ian Hallett presented Parris to the students at Ben Hill Middle last month.
