Monkey seen again in another Seminole back yard

SEMINOLE — Officials logged another monkey sighting in the Tampa Bay area Tuesday, but the elusive animal remains on the loose.

The primate, thought to be a macaque, was spotted about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 5400 block of Bates Street in Seminole.

Susan Sousa said the monkey swung through the trees in her back yard then moved onto a neighbor's roof.

Wildlife officials have had their eye on the monkey, seen many times last fall in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, for the past several months.

It resurfaced again last week when a Seminole couple reported seeing the animal walk along their fence on Danielle Court.

Officials didn't send anyone to the scene Tuesday because the monkey was already out of sight, said Gary Morse, spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
