Nature Coast Botanical Gardens to host tree decorating contest


Tree decorating contest today in gardens

Organizations, businesses and other groups will decorate evergreen trees from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens, 1489 Parker Ave., as part of the Spring Hill Garden Club's "Holiday in the Gardens." There will be refreshments and musical entertainment. Spectators are welcome. After all the trees are done, visitors can vote for their favorites. Voting is through Christmas Eve. Alaskan country group to perform

The Hernando Performing Arts Guild presents a concert with Redhead Express at 7 p.m. today at the Hernando Performing Arts Center, 700 Bell Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. This is a female, family country/bluegrass quartet from Alaska that performs standards and originals. Yacht club hosts boat parade

The Hernando Beach Yacht Club will host its annual Christmas boat parade today at the club, 4163 Shoal Line Blvd. Check-in will be at 5 p.m.; the parade starts at 6 p.m. Awards will be presented. There will also be a chili cook-off, and chili hot dogs and other food and drinks will be available for purchase. The cost to participate is a donation of a toy for Toys for Tots. Call fleet Capt.     DUNEDIN — Pinellas County sheriff's deputies on Tuesday identified the man found floating in a Dunedin canal as the man who was reported missing last week.
